Shoes Project

No one should have to wear shoes or sandals from a garbage bin.

Students and kids are required to wear a school uniform and proper shoes and sandals. Many students wear shoes that are far too large or small for them; other students’ shoes are barely held together.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, we noticed that this lack of shoes was a problem for many of the students and kids in Indonesia. A student’s performance at school is influenced by many things. Having access to school materials and good health are two frequently-cited, and important, factors. But there are several other components to be considered – shoes and sandals being one of them! So we decided to launch a project to bring shoes and sandals for kids with our amazing supporters.

“Shoes…affect the child’s health and psychological welfare.”

Development Research and Training, Kampala

We gave shoes and sandals to our boys in the Juvenile Prison, kids around our Transition Home, and kids in the Bandung area. On July 21, we shipped 100 pairs of school shoes to Papua from Bandung, and even we also gave shoes and sandals for the greater Papuan community. It will take 2 months shipping until the kids receive the shoes that we sent. We will update soon!

We love seeing how happy the kids are!

We can’t thank our donors enough for the shoes and for supporting the Shoes Project. We are so happy to see the kids and boys smiling when they got their new shoes and sandals.
